Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore

Message from the Director

Our Ph.D. offers the opportunity to carry out research in many areas of Economics and Finance by relying on a large number of Faculty members. While the original focus of our Graduate School was on Public Economics – a focus that we partly retain – we have enriched our portfolio of opportunities, and we have recently integrated into our Faculty several researchers who are very active in the fields of Banking and Finance. We have a long and consolidated tradition of post-graduate teaching and research in Economics and Finance, and our courses also rests upon a long-standing teaching cooperation with another prestigious Italian university, Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca. By drawing on scholars from both universities, we guarantee that our students are taught by experts in each field, receiving a state-of-the-art education. Furthermore, renowned international professors from top institutions and professional economists working in international public organizations are invited for talks and seminars on a regular basis, giving students the opportunity to meet outstanding scholars and start creating connections. The Departments supporting our Graduate School have strong links with many Italian and international organizations, and we encourage our students to spend part of their time at top-quality foreign universities and at international institutions in order to further strengthen their education. We work to build a friendly and exciting research environment for ambitious doctoral students, where they can both develop their skills and make long lasting relationships. We particularly welcome students from abroad. The Graduate School offers them a unique opportunity to live in an exciting city like Milan, using it as a base for exploiting the many chances offered by Italy's top research centers, and possibly to enjoy the country's beauties. We look forward to meeting you in Milan. If you have any further question, don't hesitate to contact us.
